When I was seven years old, my mother visited her hometown in Lebanon, and she got dragged into having her fortune told by a psychic. She predicted my mother’s, and then she did mine and my siblings. I am the youngest, so I was last, and when the lady got to me, she only had four words to say about me before switching back to my elder sister’s inevitable demise: “she will move mountains”.
I founded The Bitch Theory to provide the much needed platform for non-males to share their work and provide opportunities for upcoming writers and to create a safe place for activism, but my passions extend far beyond this. I am a writer, both non-fiction but most often in creative works. I won the CYA Young Writer’s award in 2024, ‘Writing for the Adult market’, where I submitted the first five chapters of the novel I’m currently working on. I also write poetry and short-stories. I own many typewrites. I also have my own personal library (who’s counting?) of over 600 books, so there is never a dull moment.
I don’t have a fixed dream and my aspirations are not linear, but I do know that I want to inspire change. I want to write, to be a criminal lawyer, to volunteer, to dedicate myself to changing the world, to be a symbol of law reform and progress the radical feminist movement in Australia. I love literature and I love reading. I love antiques, strange or weird collations of media (my favourite movie is The Addams Family,1991). I love rock, metal, heavy metal and every other subsequent and even heavier genres of metal that exist, but I truly do listen to everything. I love country, hip hop, shoegaze, new wave, post-punk, goth, gothic metal, literally everything.
I have been an advocate for change and freedom for as along as I’ve been conscious. I was outspoken in high school, and only became more outspoken as I grew older and realised the extent of injustice and suffering. When I read my first piece of radical feminist theory (you never forget your first), I knew this was it, that this was me. I only hope to provide others with that same feeling and to build a supportive and motivated community.
