Sophia’s Work:
Fight, Flight or Freeze

Sophia is an eighteen year old Australian/Ukrainian writer, with a passion for all things postcolonial. She adores all styles of writing, but has a particular interest in anything that subverts typical conventions and expectations of form. Sophia most often writes free-form poetry, but has also dabbled in creative non-fiction work, as well as analytical essays. Much of her writing draws upon her reflections and experiences as part of a diaspora, questioning and reframing notions of identity, and of course inherently making political commentary. She finds this to be particularly relevant against the current global political climate, and pays particular focus to writing at a nuanced intersection, which accounts for the overlapping and clashing aspects of her identity. Ultimately, Sophia views her writing as a continuing act of survival and resistance, and hopes to shed light on the perspectives of those in similar circumstances and communities to hers.
